Alec Baldwin Reducing 30 Rock Role to Run for Mayor of NYC?
Alec Baldwin Alec Baldwin has never been tight-lipped about his plans to leave 30 Rock, or even the show's possible demise, after his contract expires in 2012. But now the Emmy-winning actor is finally opening up about what exactly he plans to do after he leaves the NBC comedy: run for mayor! Baldwin, 53, tells The New York Times he wants to eventually run for mayor of New York City, although he most likely will not enter the upcoming 2013 race because of his previous commitment to 30 Rock. Will 30 Rock end next year? Alec Baldwin says yes Instead, he says he plans to make occasional appearances on 30 Rock after the series' upcoming sixth season so that he can begin a graduate program in the fall of 2012 "to help me better understand what the fiscal imperatives of that job are," he told the newspaper. "What's the reality of the city unions, of contracts, agreements, teachers, infrastructure, decentralizing, everything? And utilities, Con Ed, the M.T.A. - how does it all work?" Baldwin is currently in discussions with two top universities about enrolling in a politics and government program. Baldwin has expressed interest in entering politics in the past, but says he's ready to take the risk - whether it pays off or not. "I am someone who is fully prepared for the fact that I could go into this and do it and completely have my a-- kicked," he said. "I could throw a party and no one could come. And it would be this staggering lesson for me." Alec Baldwin "very, very interested" in running for office Although Baldwin is one of the lead actors on 30 Rock - only second to Tina Fey - series executive producer Lorne Michaels is confident the show can and will go on with or without Baldwin. "I can't imagine doing the show without Alec, but I couldn't imagine doing [Saturday Night Live] without Chevy [Chase]," Michaels told Vulture. "And we're still on the air. ... It's got a lot of life and vitality and we all want to keep it going." 30 Rock returns to NBC midseason. Baldwin will host the season premiere of Saturday Night Live when it returns on Sept. 24 on NBC.

Leonardo DiCaprio Apparently Likes The Creed of Violence, and 5 Other Stories You'll Be Talking About Today
Also in this Monday edition of The Broadsheet: Only one Cameron Crowe film could get a sequel… Die Hard 5 is still happening and it might have a location… the “women can be funny!” debate hasn’t ended just yet… and more ahead. · My best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with the girl who saw… ahem. Based on the book by Boston Teran, Creed is a Western-tinged drama that follows a criminal named Rawbone and the lawman who captures him while he tries to smuggle weapons into Mexico. Universal is setting this up — In the Bedroom director Todd Field has been developing it — though they refused to comment on DiCaprio’s involvement. [LAT/24 Frames] · From one possible fantasy project to another! At the TCA summer press tour over the weekend, director Cameron Crowe revealed that Lloyd Dobler could live again… someday. “It’s the only thing that I’ve written that I would consider doing that with,” Crowe said about the possibility of making a sequel to Say Anything. “I’ve thought about it from time to time and talked about it with John Cusack once and just said this is the only story that I kind of think there might be another chapter to that at some point.” [HitFix] · According to TwitchFilm, Die Hard 5 may be down a director. If you believe David Varod, the CEO of the Bulgarian-based production company behind The Expendables 2, here are some people who might star in the sequel: Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, John Travolta, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke and Bruce Willis. [Novinite via Collider] · “Is this a great new feminist assertion of the self that says, ‘Yes, women fart, women belch, women get drunk? That Cameron Diaz being a disgrace, isn’t that fabulous?’ The feminist ideal was not that there was going to be equity of stupidity. Finding the lowest common denominator is not what everybody was marching for.” Sorry, Bridesmaids; it appears there are still some things to debate when it comes to women in comedy. [LAT]
